FCE/Cambridge Preparation (20 lessons/week)
This course will help intermediate level students develop their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in preparation for the FCE exam. In this course, students will learn test taking strategies to help them reach their FCE test score goal. Students will prepare specifically for the reading, writing, listening, use of English and speaking modules. Mini tests will be administered throughout the course to track the students’ progress.
This course will help students:
- Improve their reading, writing, listening, use of English and speaking skills.
- Develop test-taking strategies specifically for the FCE exam.
- Improve their FCE test scores in all five skills.
Student Progress (Grading)
Instructors will check students’ academic progress weekly by administering weekly assessments. GEOS uses percentage scores to show academic progress. Sometimes instructors may use other scoring systems but these are always changed into percentage scores at the end.
The FCE course assesses the following skills, each skill being assessed at least twice per session: Listening, Speaking, Use of English, Reading and Writing.
Students will be counselled every session and receive a Student Progress Report (SPR) at the end of every semester. These have information about students’ academic progress in each language skill covered in the course.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend and participate in class so that they can reach the course objectives.
Students must keep a Total attendance of 80% of higher; if they fail to do this, students will be put on attendance probation.
Students who arrive to class more than 15 minutes late will not be allowed into the class. If students are late to class too often, this can affect the student’s attendance rate.
