The Advanced French Course Level is focused on developing your fluency and accuracy abilities, and to helping you reach a level of competence that will allow you to interact with a variety of more challenging, sophisticated current topics.
Integrated Skills Course
Advanced French Course Description:
During the morning session, students study four French skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening - through a “Communicative Language Teaching” methodology. New grammar patterns are learned in the context of a conversation or a real-life situation. Students also use various activities to practice French conversation including listening tasks, role plays, and discussions. Practical reading and writing tasks and vocabulary studies are presented as well in our 6 available levels. Students can begin on any Monday.
Advanced French Course Objectives:
- Expand the topics you can discuss and understand in French (develop an ability to discuss topics in further detail).
- Expand your knowledge and use of grammar and vocabulary.
- Speak French fluently that is, express a wide range of ideas without unnecessary pauses or breakdowns in communication.
- Use an acceptable standard of pronunciation and grammar when communicating.

Active Listening Course
Advanced French Course Description:
During the afternoon session, students will cover a variety of topics while practicing French conversation management, North American conversational styles, and pronunciation. Students learn commonly-used idioms and slang in a communicative way. Teachers also use various activities to practice these new idioms including listening tasks, role play, and discussion.
Advanced French Course Objectives:
- Develop appropriate advanced level listening comprehension skills, so that you can understand conversations of controversial and complex topics.
- Build confidence when discussing complex and academic topics with other French speakers.
- Build more vocabulary about specialized topics so that you can express yourself better.
- Understand and value different cultures; and use this knowledge when interacting with other speakers.
- Comprehend and express complex feelings and points of view on a topic.
- Interact comfortably with real reading and writing materials, and short TV news reports.
