Level 4 is designed to help High Intermediate French Course Level students develop and solidify their intermediate language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing French.
Integrated Skills Course
High Intermediate French Course Description:
During the morning session, students study four French skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening - through a “Communicative Language Teaching” methodology. New grammar patterns are learned in the context of a conversation or a real-life situation. Students also use various activities to practice French conversation including listening tasks, role plays, and discussions. Practical reading and writing tasks and vocabulary studies are presented as well in our 6 available levels. Students can begin on any Monday.
High Intermediate French Course Objectives:
- Communicate fluently and with confidence in most common situations.
- Increase your vocabulary repertoire.
- Develop increasing fluency and sophistication when using French for more specific purposes.
- Refine and expand the use of grammatical functions.
- Expand your reading skills necessary to interpret authentic and increasingly more technical articles written by French speakers.
- Develop some basic critical thinking skills needed and required in the French speaking working world.
- Develop effective listening skills when communicating and relating with people.

Active Listening Course
High Intermediate French Course Description:
During the afternoon session, students will cover a variety of topics while practicing French conversation management, North American conversational styles, and pronunciation. Students learn commonly-used idioms and slang in a communicative way. Teachers also use various activities to practice these new idioms including listening tasks, role play, and discussion.
High Intermediate French Course Objectives:
- Develop appropriate listening skills, so that you can comprehend even the basic meaning of complex conversations.
- Refine your conversational skills when talking about common daily activities.
- Build confidence when discussing more challenging topics with other French speakers.
- Build more vocabulary about different topics so that you can express yourself better.
- Understand and value different cultures.
- Interact with real reading and writing materials, and short TV news reports.
- Develop some academic learning skills needed to continue to higher-level learning.
