A Very Happy Women’s Day in our Toronto English School
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements women have done, and continue to fight for around the world. Many countries actually celebrate Women’s Day as a public holiday including Afghanistan, Armenia, Russia and Ukraine as examples. While as a society we have come a long way, the unfortunate reality is that many women are still not paid equally compared to their male coworkers. They are not represented equally in numbers politically, and in business along with many other disparities.
The SC GEOS School in Toronto wanted to do something special for our female students and recognized the importance of this day with beautiful yellow, white roses and chocolates. Everyone gathered around the table while teachers offered roses and chocolates to all the ladies. Big appreciative smiles were all over our male students and teachers faces.
Women’s Day was definitely a success and is a reminder that we all need to act and think globally. We need do our part to make sure that the future is bright and limitless for girls everywhere, and we continue to uplift with another.
