A Walk into Vancouver’s Historical Heart - GEOS Language School Activity
Learning sometimes is best experienced by actually exploring and getting to know your surroundings. The SC GEOS English School in Vancouver decided to show students a very crucial area of this beautiful city with our awesome teacher David Cunningham. Students enjoyed a mini tour of the Gastown district on a gorgeous sunny day.
Gastown is the historical heart of Vancouver and was recognized as the 4th most stylish neighbourhood in the world for 2012. This news is not shocking when you take a glimpse of its architecturally stunning buildings and was also a National Historic Site for 2009. The area’s eclectic title comes from the name of the founder, “Gassy” Jack Deighton who was a Yorkshire seaman and arrived in 1867 to open the region’s first saloon. Gastown should definitely be on the top of your to go list when visiting Vancouver. A visit to the city without seeing this charming district would not be complete.
